New Hope Manor’s Extended Day Treatment Program (EDT) is a clinical afterschool program for youth between the ages of 10 and 18 located in the town of Manchester and serves a diverse clientele from many Connecticut communities. Licensed by the Department of Children and Families, The EDT serves clients and their families, as needed, with histories that may include behavioral, social, academic, psychiatric or substance abuse challenges.
New Hope Manor’s EDT program is housed at it’s licensed clinical day school. Clients of the program have use of recreational facilities, classrooms, and at times participate in off ground field trips and special activities. In house recreational opportunities include a rock climbing wall, teen center activities, and gymnasium sports.
New Hope Manor’s EDT provides a safe, nurturing after school setting that focuses on a blend of individual therapy, group therapy, psycho educational groups, life skills, and recreation.
The program utilizes DBT and Risking connections treatment models which are both research-based client centered, informed choice models. In addition, Clients with substance abuse problems will receive Seven Challenges treatment as well as relapse prevention and appropriate recovery based interventions.
Therapeutic group topics include but are not limited to: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy group, Seven Challenges substance abuse group , Daily living skills and process groups, as well as other clinical groups such as grief and loss, anger management and trauma.
