Education

Summit School is a private special education school licensed by the State Department of Education for students between the ages of 10 and 18. The school serves students who have exhibited behavioral, social, academic problems, and/or have a prior history of substance abuse. We operate in small classroom settings which promote a caring and nurturing environment. Summit school is based on an integrated curriculum that utilizes the strengths of staff and students working together to create a plan that is relevant and challenging for each student. Children are treated with respect and dignity while learning how to make healthy and productive decisions for themselves.

Summit School offers an individualized education program, full curriculum, a work-study program, college/career planning, and acts as liaison with LEA's.

A variety of instructional methods are utilized based on the student's individual plan which takes into consideration her personal learning style and educational needs. These may include but are not limited to, individual and small group activities, direct teaching, self-paced learning, and distance learning. Our treatment approach considers the psychological, emotional, spiritual, educational, and recreational needs for each student. Some of our students receive additional services through our Extended Day program.
